3D Fundamentals 2 - Helmet Project
More 2nd Term work. For our 3D class, we had to design and build a helmet. Tough work, but I learned a lot!
These images were ideations and concept images I did for the design of the entire suit of armor. Originally, they were pretty rough, but I fixed them up for the intern show.
Part of our final involved making a presentation poster showing the helmet in action. This too was originally pretty sketchy when I showed it for my final, but cleaned up and made one of my main pieces for the intern show.
Design Process 2 - Godfather Death
Work from Term 2 that I've been editing on and off until the intern show. The story is based off a Brother's Grimm fairy tale called Godfather Death, a story in which Death agrees to be the Godfather of a child who grows up to be a famous physician. You can read the rest of the story here: http://www.surlalunefairytales.com/godfatherdeath/index.html
For the class, we had to illustrate 3 keyframes for the story. I focused on the scenes where the physician child interacts with godfather Death.

End of Term / A New Year
Second term finished for me a couple weeks ago, and I am well into winter break at the moment. Looking back, second term was not nearly as rough as first term. Fewer classes and a better understanding of time management made this term a bit easier for me, to the point that I found I had some free time to pursue some personal interests (such as...cooking! And music!).
So 2012 has rolled around, and, as usual, I've resolved to work harder and get better. 2011 was a great year, and 2012 is looking out to be even better. Here's hoping to an exciting and productive new year!
Here are some sketches I did that I haven't posted yet:

Also, over the summer, I worked with a bunch of classmates on a group project called "Enir." Here were my contributions for the project:

Term Over and Sketch
So first term ACCD ended a while ago, and now I'm on a break, waiting for second term to start. First term was a pretty rough ride, but I made some great friends and had some good times, despite all the hard work. Overall, though, I feel like I've grown as a person. The tough workload seemed to have strengthened me in a way, but I feel like I learned a lot from my classmates as well. I feel really lucky to be constantly surrounded by great artists and strong work ethic...it definitely makes me want to work harder.
...
In the past month-and-a-half, I've been doing a lot of random drawing, trying out different things and seeing what works best for me in terms of drawing. I still have trouble finishing stuff, though, and I find I'm leaving a lot of stuff at the "sketch" stage.

The Bloodsword
Spent the last few days on this...been making attempts to do some illustrative work, and this is my first finished attempt at it. There are some problems with it, stuff that I may or may not go back and fix because I really just want to call this one "finished."
Longer description copied from my dA:
"Dedicated to all those times you make a rash decision and have to suffer the consequences of your actions.
For the past few months, I've been trying to do more illustrative pieces--mostly to test my abilities but also to attempt making sell-able artwork. Out of about a dozen pieces I've started, I honestly didn't think that this piece would be the one I finish first (this was the third one I started). Inspiration suddenly hit me, though, and I hurried to finish this after I figured out how I wanted it to look.
I tried to appeal to fantasy gamers with this one, depicting the moment a new player finds a cool weapon, but has it unfortunately bind to him before he checks whether it was cursed or not. This kind of situation has happened to me too often, haha... orz
So yeah, I kind of rushed to finish this before the new year, but I'm glad it's done. Happy new years eve, everybody! Hope you've learned something from your mistakes this year, and good luck to everybody in the coming year. "
